Frequently asked questions

Yes, absolutely. FloatPay charges zero interest on all purchases, regardless of size. The only charge you may ever face is a R99 late fee if a scheduled debit fails — and that fee does not compound.
For purchases under R5,000, we perform a soft affordability check only — this does not affect your credit score. For larger purchases, we conduct a full NCA-compliant affordability assessment which may include a bureau enquiry.
If a scheduled debit fails, you'll receive an SMS and email notification. A once-off R99 late fee applies. You'll have 5 days to make the missed payment manually before the next debit attempt. If you're struggling, please contact us — we'd rather work out a plan than charge fees.
Yes, you can pay off your remaining balance at any time with no penalty. Log in to your FloatPay account, navigate to your active order, and select "Pay off balance".
FloatPay is accepted at 200+ shops across South Africa, including fashion, electronics, home goods, sports, beauty, and more. Visit our store finder to find shops near you or online.
The minimum purchase is R100 and there is no hard maximum limit — however, larger purchases require a full affordability assessment. Individual merchant checkout limits may apply based on their plan.
Returns follow the merchant's returns policy. Once the merchant processes your refund, FloatPay will cancel any future instalments and refund your initial payment. If all instalments have been paid, a full refund will be issued to your bank account.
We offer plugins for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and OpenCart. We also have a full REST API for custom builds. Visit our Partners page or contact us at [email protected] to get started.
Merchants receive the full purchase amount within 24 hours of the consumer's order confirmation (T+1 for Growth/Enterprise plans; T+2 for Starter). You are never responsible for collecting instalments.
Yes. FloatPay operates as a registered credit provider under the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (NCR registration pending). We comply with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013) for all data we handle. See our Responsible Lending page for more details.
Unlike a credit card, FloatPay charges zero interest and has no revolving credit balance. You pay a fixed amount at a fixed schedule. There's no annual fee, no credit limit increase temptation, and no minimum payment trap. It's designed to be a responsible, planned payment tool — not open-ended credit.
FloatPay operates exclusively in South African Rand (ZAR). All payments, instalments, and fees are displayed in Rand. We do not support foreign currency transactions.
