How MDR works
Understanding your merchant discount rate
The MDR is deducted from the full purchase amount at the time of settlement. You never pay anything upfront. Example: A R1,000 sale on the Growth plan (4.9% MDR) = FloatPay settles R951 to your account the next business day.

FloatPay operates exclusively in ZAR. All settlements, MDR deductions, and fees are Rand-denominated. No currency conversion costs.

Pricing FAQ
Yes, you can upgrade your plan at any time as your GMV grows. Downgrading is possible with 30 days' notice. There are no penalties for moving between plans.
No minimum. The Starter plan is free and has no volume floor. It's designed for smaller merchants who are starting out with BNPL. You can process as few as one transaction per month.
You'll receive a notification when you approach the R50K threshold. Transactions that would exceed the cap are still processed, but you'll be prompted to upgrade to Growth within 5 business days. No transactions are blocked mid-month.
When a refund is processed, the MDR on the refunded amount is returned to you. Net-net: you only pay MDR on sales you keep.
FloatPay settles the full purchase amount (minus MDR) to your nominated bank account. You receive the full sale amount upfront — you never need to collect instalments from the consumer. Settlements are batched daily and processed by your bank on T+1 (Growth) or T+2 (Starter) business days.
The Enterprise plan is designed for R500K+ monthly GMV. For volumes between R100K and R500K, the Growth plan typically offers the best economics. Contact us if you'd like a custom discussion for your specific situation.
